Hi!  My name is Karen Wise and the purpose of this web site will be to provide you with information that will help you find family members that may have been orphaned, institutionalized or face other adversities in and around East Baton Rouge Parish.  I will also try to provide histories concerning the various Institutions, photographs and census guidance.  I have visited several of the parish sites, to see what information concerning the various Institutions that were available to those of you researching.  Through the years I have noticed that some of the County/Parish sites provide absolutely no or very little information about this segment of the population.

There were several other institutions in and around Baton Rouge, such as the School for the Deaf, Dumb and Blind, Greenwell Springs T. B. Hospital etc. So, you can see that this will be an ongoing project.  Any additional information you may have on any of these institutions and are willing to share would be greatly appreciated.
